What is COBRA insurance?
COBRA insurance was created in 1985, when Ronald Reagan’s administration passed a bill known as the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act. This act was created to protect employees and their families from suddenly losing health insurance if they lost or quit their jobs. COBRA insurance allows individuals and families who meet the criteria of the law to elect to continue receiving their group health insurance and therefore not incur substantial medical bills or lapses in medical insurance coverage.
